If you are located on the south side of Brisbane and need to get to the CBD, there are a few routes available if you are coming by bike.
To make your trip as smooth as possible, we are here to help you plan your route. Check out Issue #1 of this blog series for those that are located on the north side, and keep an eye out for issues 3 and 4 for those coming from the east and west!
For those southsiders out there, let’s get straight into it…
The Veloway One
The Veloway One bikeway is south Brisbane’s biggest and best.
Running alongside the pacific motorway, this is a great option if you are coming from Tarragindi, Holland Park, Greenslopes, Buranda or Woolloongabba.
There are also improvements that were recently completed linking Holland Park and Tarragindi for a safer and quicker connection. This connection cost $45 million and you can see this incredible infrastructure from the Pacific Motorway too.
Connect straight onto the Southbank bikeway to get to the CBD, or continue on to the Kangaroo Point Bikeway to cross the Story Bridge.
Eight Mile Plains To Tarragindi
This off-road bikeway connects up to the Veloway One the closer you get to the CBD.
For those located in Eight Miles Plains or Mount Gravatt, this is a great way to get to the CBD… and make a stop off at Garden City shopping centre on the way too!
On-Road Bike Lanes
While you will have to share the road with cars, there are some decent on-road bike lanes located on the southside.
Most notably, Gladstone Road and Annerley Road will get you where you need to go if you are coming from the inner-south.
Bikeways Around Southbank
By using the Veloway One bikeway or either on-road bike lanes in South Brisbane, you can link up to the Southbank Bikeway.
This beautiful precinct goes right along the river and is worth the ride.
To cross over to the CBD, use the Victoria Bridge or Kurilpa Bridge to get to your destination.
